NIGHT FOUR
QUEST FOR THE CROWN
WEDNESDAY 14TH DECEMBER
LONDON, ENGLAND
'Modern World' by The Jam blasts over the speakers as the night gets underway with a run down of the stacked card. The commentators hype up the nights Main Event, as a clip of Jessi Ozborne entering the arena is shown, as it segways into the Television Champion's ring entrance. "Wolf Within" by Jonathon Young and Caleb Hyles blares out as the crowd are on their feet as Cassie Wolfe enters the ring awaiting her unknown opponents.
Journeyman Phillips is backstage with his son, Louis, and protege Albert Campbell. He says their recent loses have been nothing short of embarrassing, and they were tarnishing his legacy. But tonight they will do him proud. Tonight will be different. They needed to send a clear message to the rest of the roster. Louis and Albert nodded in agreement before cutting back to ringside.
Jvstice Hardy was backstage with Juno Jevons ahead of his match. When probed about his opponent he was surprisingly dismissive. He said he had been waiting and training his whole life for this moment, and this tournament would re-establish the Hardy name at the top tier of professional wrestling. Juno said Sylvie herself had been a training a long time, and had already picked up a big win in her time with MPW, but Jvstice wasn't concerned, and said tonight would not be a repeat. It was not her time, it was time for Jvstice.
“Enforcer” Anthony Cross is walking into the backstage area of the MPW Arena in a black Armani Suit. He takes off his sunglasses as he looks at his surroundings.
“Enforcer” Anthony Cross: All things are inevitable and the mad Russian himself thinks he is going to stroll right through the competition right to the MPW British Heavyweight Championship. I have to say I can appreciate your ego, Alexander [Sokolov]. Lord knows I have an ego twice the size of Russia on a bad day. So, far be it from me to condemn someone for having an ego.
Anthony continues walking through the backstage area as MPW employees are preparing for the show.
“Enforcer” Anthony Cross: But we have sixteen of the very best wrestlers in the world on their way to this very arena tonight to begin their very own paths to this very prestigious MPW British Heavyweight Championship tournament. Each of us has a .0625 percent chance to walk out as the winner of this tournament but to hear you say it Alexander this tournament is all but done. That’s a very bold statement by a bold man but you see Alexander. While you have experience in the fight game you are very inexperienced in this wrestling game. Admittedly so this is merely your rookie year.
Anthony stops in front of his locker room door and looks back at the camera.
“Enforcer” Anthony Cross: So let me educate you a bit, Alexander. Not only right now but later on tonight in the ring while you're full of piss and vinegar. But that is where your downfall will be. Your ego combined with your inexperience. So come at me with all you got but rest assured I will come back at you with a mighty force that you won’t be able to handle and you’ll be my first step to becoming the first ever British Heavyweight Champion.
Anthony grabs the doorknob and twists it causing the door to open. As the door swings open…
“Enforcer” Anthony Cross: Because unlike you, Alexander, I know the ins and outs of this business but more importantly the ins and outs of that ring. Just as important, I know what makes you tick which will allow me to stop you at every turn.
Anthony smiles and swings the door shut.
The cameras cut to the backstage area where paramedics are seen rushing through the corridors. The cameraman follows hurriedly behind them as we see Connor Phillips laid out on the floor unconscious. GM Preston Edwards comes into the picture, visibly concerned, demanding if anyone saw who was responsible. The few wreslters that are stood around all shrug, as we cut back to ringside.
Grimaldi is at the door of Preston Edwards. He says he has a solution to his problem tonight, if he’s willing to listen. Edwards, not making eye contact, allows him to speak. 'Hijo is a man of honour, and would want to fight for the title, not progress unopposed. Hijo was also a big draw in MPW, and the fans would want to see him in action.' He said he was willing to take Connor’s place in the match and ensure the fans got what they came for. Preston was more concerned with Connor's well being though and waved him off, half listening-half approving.
The Reckless Dollz are seen heading back through the backstage area on the big screen when they bump into Cassie Wolfe and Blaze Darling. Nessa congratulates Wolfe on her win, and wishes her luck in the Main Event. Wolfe doesn’t know how to respond, uneasy and suspicious of the pleasantries. Nessa then says the title suits her, but if she could make just one alteration she might be able to make it look even better. She takes the title off her and hangs it over Rowen’s shoulder instead before standing backing to admire. ‘Much better if you ask me,’ she says. Rowen agrees. Cassie snatches it back as the Dollz continue down the corridor looking pleased with themselves.

TELEVISION TITLE MATCH
Cassie Wolfe (c) v Patti Rose v Grimaldi
Patti Rose came out for the second week running followed by new MPW signing Grimaldi, who barely waited for the bell to ring before making his mark. Seeing Rose as the weaker of the two, he picked her off first and launched the veteran onto the outside before tackling the champ. Grimaldi wasn't looking to put on a wrestling clinic, making life as difficult as possible for Wolfe with his superior strength and physicality. Rose climbed back into the ring and pulled him off with a DDT as the two women double teamed the heavyweight newcomer. But Grimaldi was fighting back, a flurry of right hands to whoever he can land them on. He grabbed Rose by the mullet and dragged her across the ring, followed by a big clothesline, as the fans roared with disdain. Wolfe hit back with a dropkick and DDT, finally getting him out of the picture. It was enough to capitalise on the damage done to Rose, who began to climb to her feet but a Shining Wizard later she was back on the canvas as Wolfe made a quick pin to retain the belt for a second week. Grimaldi looked on from the other side of the ring and gave her a sinister smile. Wolfe readied herself for an attack, but it never came, much to her surprise.
WINNER: Cassie Wolfe (Still MPW Television Champion)
"Wolfe retains for the second week running! She'll need this form heading into the British Title Tournament."
"Not sure what to expect moving forward from Grimaldi. Wildly unpredictable."

British Heavyweight Title Tournament
Lilith Parker v Albert Campbell
Albert Campbell was pumped up for this match following his mentors rallying cry, and set about making a big impression early on, imposing himself on the slighter Parker. But his exuberance and energy wasn't enough, as the patient Parker endured the early onslaught to find her way back into the match. Once on top she didn't let up, and followed up the Superknee Slingshot (running bicycle knee) with the Death Rattle (Boston Crab with a knee to the back). Campbell had no choice but to tap out, as a furious Phillips looked on from ringside. Parker picked up her Tag Team Title, look at her shoulder then motioned to the other that there was room for one more.
WINNER: Lilith Parker (Advances to the Quarter Finals)
"Lilith making light work of Campbell here tonight in fairness."
"Journeyman Phillips coming off a bit red-faced, after talking up his boys as Tag Team Title contenders!"

Louis Phillips v Yua Watanabe
Phillips propped himself up casually on the ropes, looking very confident and relaxed as Watanabe came out to the ring. He dominated the early exchanges too, taunting his opponent to get back up and give him a 'real challenge'. His request was soon granted though as a spinning heel kick caught him off guard, and promptly swung the match in Yua's favour. A five star frog splash later and it was all over. Journeyman Phillips stormed off up the ramp, visibly enraged, as Yua bounced around the ring with her sister in celebration, before hugging the referee, commentators and everyone in between.
WINNER: Yua Watanabe (Advances to the Quarter Finals)
"Big win for Yua, but she'll have her work cut out in the next round, when she faces the winner of Daphne Martini and Vanessa Reckless tonight."
"Is it unfair to say the apple has fallen quite far from the tree with Louis Phillips?"

British Heavyweight Title Tournament
Sylvie Thorn v Jvstice Hardy
Jvstice was true to his word and dominated the early stages, with his arrogant side coming through for all to see. The crowd were behind him in the early stages, but quickly got behind the underdog Thorn. Urged on by the will of the fans, she clawed her way back into the match and almost had it won with a Russian Leg Sweep she transitioned into a Crossface, but the ropes just about came to Hardy's rescue. Determined not to let Thorn back in again he pulled out a Superkick from nowhere, and swiftly secured his place in the next round with his Truth in Vengeance (Fireman’s carry into a cutter).
WINNER: Jvstice Hardy (Advances to the Quarter Finals)
"A different side on display here tonight from Jvstice, but he still got the job done."
"Let's see how he fairs against Lilith Parker next week, one half of the MPW Tag Team champions."

Triple Threat Match
Blaze Darling v Taylor Evans v Lola Dane
The crowed were excited to see Lola Dane back in MPW, and equally pleased to welcome Blaze Darling for her London debut. The two girls seemed to have a mutual understanding early on and set about taking down Taylor Evans right from the bell. Evans fought back as best she could but Dane and Darling were slick in their approach, and didn't lay a hand on one another until they could be sure the job was done. With Evans out of the question they excitedly locked horns, and wowed the crowd with some impressive technical wrestling. It was high-energy and back and forth throughout, both women pulling out all the stops for the win and equally resilient. Lola's Standing double knee drop and Blaze's Handspring Back Elbow Smash brought some close two counts but in the end Darling came through with a narrowly-fought win, her Standing Butterfly transitioned into a Butterfly Suplex, she calls Hakuna Matata, as a tired Dane could give no more. Both women were cheered and clapped back up the rampway one by one, impressive 'official' debuts for both competitors.
WINNER: Blaze Darling
"That could have gone either way in all honesty, hope we both competitors in the same ring again soon."
"Yes, on another night that could have gone Dane's way but with I dare say we might see more of these down the line."

British Heavyweight Title Tournament
Kaya Parker v Yui Watanabe
Next up saw one haf of the Tag Team champions, Kaya Parker face off against one half of the team she beat in Yui Watanabe. There was a short recap of the match a few weeks back in the build up as Kaya made her entrance to a chorus of boos from the crowd. Yui, usually one for playing to the crowd, was all business and headed out to the ring as quickly as possible to get her revenge. The bell rang as the two women tussled around the canvas in a series of kicks and short-lived holds. Yui had the fans on their feet as she attempted the Arigatou Gozaimasu (Diving Moonsault) but she'd gone too early, as Kaya rolled out from under her landing and swiftly locked on the Dead Silence (Kata Gatame) leaving Yui no choice but to tap.
WINNER: Kaya Parker (Advances to the Quarter Finals)
"Both Parker girls advance to the next round, proving their Tag Team Title success wasn't a one off."
"Seems that work equally well alone as they do together. The winner of tonight's Main Event awaits her in the next round though!"

Hardcore Rules
Kelly Kash v Patti Rose
Kelly Kash was warmly received by the MPW crowd for her debut match, carrying a bag full of foreign objects to the ring. Patti soon followed, herself carrying a wafer thin trash can full of surprises of her own. Patti placed the can down and pulled out a baking tray, small step ladder and a fire extinguisher. Kelly nodded approvingly, before opening her bag up and pulling out a cricket bat covered in thumbtacks. The commentators referenced the item as 'Sheila MK2' a nod to her cousin Kacey's own infamous weapon of choice. The bell rang and Patti tipped the trash can upside down and out fell more thumbtacks across the canvas. Both women smiled before locking up in the centre of the ring. Kelly got the first blow in but Patti was not going down lightly and tackled her to the ground, Kash's back landing on the tacks. Patti too caught a few in her arms and legs but they were both back on their feet in quick succession. Patti reached for the tray but Kelly grabbed the fire extinguisher and let it off in her face before spraying the fans in the front row for kicks. Patti stumbled around the ring with clouded vision as Kelly took full advantage of the situation and ensured there was no let up in her maiden bout. Patti landed a few right hooks, and even a suplex onto the thumbtacks. She ducked a swinging shot from Kelly with the cricket bat, but was too slow for the follow up that jabbed her clean in the midsection, a belly full of wood and tacks. There was no coming back from that, as Kash sealed the win a Double Pumphandle Orange Crush Powerbomb she naturally calls 'I'm Made Of Wax, Larry'. Both women, visibly bruised and bloodied embraced as Patti raised Kash's arm in victory.
WINNER: Kelly Kash
"The crowd enjoyed that one. Excited to see what these two bring in the future."
"Some real sadists on the MPW roster now. Not sure who is the sickest of the lot but I'm sure we'll find out."

British Heavyweight Title Tournament
Hijo de la Muerta v Grimaldi
Grimaldi was already waiting in the ring as Hijo entertained the fans by climbing aloft the turnbuckles, the masked superstar enjoying his new found popularity with the British fans. By the third one Grimaldi had seen enough and pulled him off, aggressively attacking his opponent as the match got underway. Grimaldi continued the onslaught, a flurry of fists, kicks and clotheslines to wear Hijo down. He had no intentions of making this into a wrestling match, opting to take down the talented Hijo as quick as humanly possible. But a spinning heel kick reversed everything, and Hijo began to fight back. Grimaldi once again broke his stride but an impressive leg lariat followed by a standing moonsault had the match over. Grimaldi looked ready to kick out but Hijo hung on for a hard fought three count. He climbed upon the top rope to celebrate his win but the celebrations didn’t last long, as he was attacked from behind by an angered Grimaldi. The music stopped and the Referee tried pulling him off but Grimaldi sent him flying with a Lariat. He turned his attention back to Hijo and grabbed him by the face, pausing for a moment to take in the crowds reaction. He then proceeded to try and pull Hijo's mask off his face as the crowd looked on in horror. Hijo held on with everything he had as Grimaldi yanked away but a well-timed elbow to the face and Hijo was free. He walked backwards up the ramp, pointing in rage at Grimaldi, who just sat in the rang laughing hysterically.
WINNER: Hijo de la Muerta (Advances to the Quarter Finals)
"Complete disrespect from Grimaldi there. Like we said earlier, wildly unpredictable."
"Hijo seems to be winning the fans over more and more each week, can't wait to see how he fairs against either Alexander Sokolov or Anthony Cross!"

Singles Match
Rowen v Betty Yung
Rowen came out, accompanied by Vanessa Reckless, for her MPW debut and goaded the crowd en route to the ring. the divisive Betty Yung knew the crowd would be on side here, and made more effort than usual to acknowledge them, before stepping over the ropes and sizing up her smaller opponent. Rowen didn't seem phased, and the two didn't hold back throughout the early exchanges. Yung, as always, looked to exert her physical superiority and landed a few big power moves, but Rowen gave as good as she got. After a few minutes she quickly worked out how to get the advantage, with overall speed and agility proving difficult for Yung, who grew visibly frustrated as the match went on. Reckless taunted from the outside, winding her up without any actual interference. But it was enough to sidetrack Yung momentarily, and Rowen didn't look back, finishing the match with a well timed Stunner.
WINNER: Rowen
"The fans are booing but there was a lot of people out there calling for Rowen to join Vanessa here in MPW."
"Impressive debut. These pair are gonna shake things up in the coming weeks, you already know it."

British Heavyweight Title Tournament
Daphne Martini v Vanessa Reckless
British fan favourite Daphne Martini came out first to a huge reception from the fans. It was clear they'd love her to become the first British champion. Reckless came out with Rowen in tow, a matter of mind games if nothing else. Daphne's eyes followed Rowen around the back of the ring, as Vanessa took advantage to get the first blow in and dominate the early stages of the match. Intent on sending a message to the rest of the competition she set about sealing an early decisive victory, but Martini proved tougher than she expected, intelligently reading Vanessa's moves from time to time. A clever arm drag switched things in her favour and the crowd were given a few minutes of hope as she looked to ensure Reckless paid the price for her mistakes, but a Superkick from nowhere sent Martini into the turnbuckle, and Reckless wasted no time following up with a Running Elbow to finish things off. Rowen jumped into the ring and mimicked the belt around her friend's waist as they taunted the jeering crowd. Martini climbed to her feet shortly after they exited, and was given a rousing reception but tonight just wasn't to be.
WINNER: Vanessa Reckless (Advances to the Quarter Finals)
"Reckless advances to face Yua Watanabe in the next round."
"That was a clear message to the rest of the competition. We all know Reckless will do, well, reckless things to get over here, but she didn't need it tonight."

Alexander Sokolov v Anthony Cross
A hugely anticipated match was next as Sokolov and Cross showed zero signs of fear or concern for one another when coming face to face. Sokolov, visibly excited to face someone who might challenge him, started early with the mind games but the experienced Cross didn't seem phased. Once the bell rang Sokolov realised he was in for a fight, as the experienced Cross matched his technical prowess and then some. The crowd were on their feet as it ebbed and flowed with an impressive display from each competitor. With neither man looking to gain full control of the match Sokolov grew visibly frustrated and grabbed his opponent into a headlock. Cross, the larger of the two, looked set to wriggle free but Sokolov, knowing the Referee was out of view, gauged both his eyes. Cross fell backwards, his eye sight impaired momentarily, as the Ref looked on confused. Sokolov shrugged and hit a Shibata Style Headbutt (Agony). Cross stumbled, but where most people might fall he wasn't yet down, as Sokolov followed with a Burning Lariat (Cutting the Head) to complete the win. The crowd were furious, as was Cross, but Sokolov didn't care, as he exited the ring looking pleased with himself.
WINNER: Alexander Sokolov (Advances to the Quarter Finals)
"Cross will have been one of the favourites to win this tournament in many people's eyes. He won't take this defeat lightly."
"I don't think Sokolov will care one bit. In fact I think he'll welcome another fight between the two if anything."

MAIN EVENT
British Heavyweight Title Tournament
Cassie Wolfe v Jessi Ozborne
Ozborne was calm and composed, casually waiting for her opponent to arrive as the Deathriders stood on the outside of the ring as entourage. Wolfe opted not to come out alone, accompanied by her friend Blaze Darling for support, as she raised her Television Title aloft in a bid to goad Ozborne, signifying to the crowd there was room for one or even two more belts, as she pointed to the Deathriders thereafter. They waved her off, as Wolfe threatened them to stay out of her match, both Parker girls sarcastically acting innocent at the thought. Jessi stepped in between and demanded she focus on her and the match ahead, determined to get things underway. The bell rang and it was every bit as exciting as the crowd had hoped, their high-flying styles gelling to perfection. Cassie showed no early signs of fatigue, despite wrestling early in the night, but Jessi knew this was going to be to her advantage and began wearing her down with wristlocks and headlocks, a few suplex variations thrown in to boot. Knowing Wolfe would not go down without a fight she continued this for quite some time, 'The Rebel Princess' growing visibly more and more tired. It looked like enough was enough and Wolfe was laid out on the mat following a huge BAE-Blade (Ripcord Spinning Heel Kick) from the impressive Ozborne. Her plan executed to perfection, she looked down at her opponent smugly but decided against the pin. She ascended the turnbuckle for a Double Rotation Moonsault, aptly named The End, and launched off the top rope but Wolfe rolled out of the way at the last second! This wasn't over. Both women climbed to their feet simultaneously, but Wolfe got in there first with a dropkick. Ozborne fell to the outside by Darling's feet, and Wolfe was too exhausted to get up. The Deathriders saw this as opportunity to weigh in and set upon Darling for 'interference' despite not actually doing anything. The Referee was having none of it and tried to break things up but there wasn't time to fully intervene, as Ozborne slid under the ropes and stood wathcing Wolfe slowly stir like a bird watching it's prey. Wolfe didn't have time to react as she moved fast to hit her with the Disenchanted! A huge House Call/boot to the back of the head. A dazed Wolfe had no hope of recovery as Ozborne made the pin and duly celebrated a hard fought win, her music playing out the end of the night's events.
WINNER: Jessi Ozborne (Advances to the Quarter Finals)
"Ozborne advances! She's celebrating with her friends here, but next week she'll be one on one with Kaya Parker."
"Did Wolfe pay the price for her earlier title defence tonight? Jessi had a game plan and it paid off."
"The British Title Tournament continues next week. Who will advance into the final stages? Who will turn up to try and take Cassie's Television Title? Who mysteriously attacked Connor Phillips? What will Anthony Cross' response be to losing in questionable circumstances to Alexander Sokolov? Let's see what answers we get at Night 5!"
